Privacy Policy
Foldline: PDF Editor & Scanner, for iPhone and iPad. Effective September 25, 2026.
This app does not collect any data. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking, and there is no Foldline server. Every feature, including text recognition, works on your device without an internet connection. The app goes online only to ask Apple's App Store about Foldline Pro: its price, and buying or restoring it.
Your documents
PDFs you import, scan, or create are stored in the app's private storage on your device. They are not uploaded anywhere. Like other app data, they are included in your device backups (iCloud Backup or a backup to your computer) if you use them. Deleting the app deletes its documents.
Images and text you export are kept only until you close the export screen, then deleted from the app's storage.
Camera
When you choose Scan Document, the app uses the camera to capture pages. Captured images stay on your device and are deleted once you save or cancel the scan.
Photos and files
When you add images or PDFs, you pick them in the system's Photos or Files picker, and the app receives only the items you choose. It cannot browse your photo library. If you save exported images to Photos, iOS asks for permission to add them; the app cannot read your library.
PDFs from other apps
When you open a PDF in this app from another app, such as Mail or Files, iOS gives the app a copy. The app adds it to your library and deletes the copy it was given.
Text recognition
Text recognition (OCR) uses Apple's on-device Vision framework. Your pages never leave your device.
Passwords and signatures
Passwords you type to open or protect a PDF are used only for that task and are never saved. A signature you save for reuse is stored only in the app's private storage on your device, and you can delete it at any time.
Purchases
Foldline Pro is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment; the app learns only whether the purchase was made, from the App Store on your device, and sends nothing about it anywhere.
If you haven't bought Foldline Pro, the app records which PDF is your free document in your device's keychain, so reinstalling the app doesn't reset it. The record holds only the random file names the app gave that PDF and its copies, not their names or contents. It is never sent anywhere, and unlike the app's other data, it stays on the device after the app is deleted.
Crash reports
If you turn on Share With App Developers in iOS Settings (Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements), Apple may share crash reports and app usage statistics with the developer. Apple collects these, not the app, and you can turn them off there at any time.
Sharing
A document leaves the app only when you share or export it. What happens to it then is governed by the app or service you send it to. Tapping a link in a PDF opens it outside the app, in Safari, Mail or Phone.
Children
The app collects no information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
